Featured Salvaged Barn Project
We offer a standout collection of reclaimed barn wood, sourced from structures across the country. Each piece has its own unique character, texture, and a rich history that’s being brought back to life. Take a closer look at the origins of these reclaimed materials from our featured salvaged barn projects from Galena and dive into their intriguing backstories.
Reclaimed Bowling Alley from Salem, WI
One of our favorite projects was salvaging this one-lane bowling alley in Salem, WI! This unique structure was originally owned by the Jefferson Ice Company. This building was located on the same property as the house used in the Amityville Horror Movie – filmed in 2005 with Ryan Reynolds! This was such a cool project! We were able to salvage a lot of beautiful materials from this bowling alley and even built some custom furniture out of the bowling alley lanes and floor joists!
Randy’s Vegetable Barn Salvaged from Elgin, IL
Another local barn that we salvaged was the barn from Randy’s Vegetables on Randall Road in Elgin, IL. Unfortunately this barn had to come down because a car dealer had purchased the property and needed the land cleared. We were able to salvage a lot of beams and reclaimed wood from this property, and even managed to save a really cool mural that was painted on the front of the barn!
Salvaged Material from Pillsbury Mills Factory
We salvaged a few truckloads of great material from the former Pillsbury Mills Factory in Springfield, IL. This Pillsbury Mills Plant first opened in 1929 and it was full of historic character. We were able to find lots of cool pieces and salvaged a lot of reclaimed wood and high-character dimensional lumber that is now available for sale at our shop! We love being part of saving history – one piece at a time!!
Reclaimed Manitowoc Barn
This is a barn that we salvaged in Manitowoc, WI. Manitowoc is located on Lake Michigan and is known as Wisconsin’s Maritime Capital. This barn was full of great siding and hand hewn beams. We salvaged a lot of great material from this property! And during the teardown process we noticed an unusual plywood used to patch the flooring. We carefully pulled it up and revealed a hand-painted, vintage sign with the words Guest House Inn… This sign was in great shape despite having spent part of its life holding up livestock! We brought this sign back to our shop and proudly have it displayed. One of the many cool things we salvaged from this property!!
